As Anti-Trump as ever
By Jim Selman
Jim Selman's personal response to Joe Biden's choice to step down from his presidential candidacy in July 2024.
Today Joe Biden stepped down from his candidacy for President.
I don’t know if you read his letter to all Americans, but I found it very moving. Hard to believe I’d choke up reading a political communication. But the fact is he is a good man; he produced more in this incomplete term than most other presidents and it’s sad to see him go.
That said, I am as anti-Trump as ever and hope that the Democrats will move with wisdom and power to mobilize the country in the coming weeks. Whether this last-minute change is good or bad remains to be seen. Somehow, I think that all those that were pro-Biden will continue to vote for whoever the Democratic party chooses to carry the flag after the Convention in August.
I also remain optimistic that Independents and thinking people recognize Trump is simply the spokesperson for a movement, a movement toward autocracy and a fascist State. If you have not listened to Rachael Maddow’s historical podcast ULTRA, I cannot recommend it enough.
I am taking a break for the rest of today. I’ll be back with more toward the end of the week.
